PACKAGE FOR MULTI-STAGE SELECTIVE OPERATIONS

OrionT-Sjet

The package is intended for multi-stage selective operations of sand jet perforation with subsequent hydraulic fracturing.
OrionT-Sjet package is intended for multi-stage selective sand jet perforation operations with further hydraulic fracturing.
OrionT-Sjet package allows the performance of up to 3 stages of perforation and hydraulic fracturing per single trip.
In case of STOP-mode risk during hydraulic fracturing operation the package provides the removal of proppant leftovers from the tubing and annulus by backwashing.
OrionT-Sjet package can ensure precise alignment of impact interval and frac propagation orientation.
OrionT-Sjet package contributes to the reduction of oil recovery enhancement costs.
OrionT-Sjet package allows the development of low-permeability and poorly-drained pay intervals.
Design description
Hydraulic anchor
Holds the perforator within the target interval during the injection. The anchor is hydraulically driven by feeding pressure into the tubing.
Downhole ball valve
Seals the tubing space at the tool relocation to another interval in case of excessive pressure in the well.
Sectional sand jet perforator
Is intended for tapping the production string with a sand jet by creating channels and slits. The perforation is made by means of jet stream of fluid containing sand or other abrasive compounds, flowing out of perforator nozzles at high-speed.
Interval breaker
Is used for the isolation of target interval from the lower part of the well. The annulus is shut off with a cup seal.
Relief valve
Provides the control of fluid circulation through the tool when the package is in operation. The valve provides decent washover of the annulus and avoid the swabbing effect when the tool is moved inside the well. The valve is actuated mechanically – by axial motions of the tubing.
  • The package is lowered into the well and aligned within the target interval by means geophysical data correlation.
  • To perform an operation (sand jet perforation, hydraulic fracturing, acid treatment) the relief valve is closed.
  • The hydraulic pressure testing of the package and tubing string is carried out.
  • The ball is launched to activate the first section of the perforator.
  • Sand jet perforation and hydraulic fracturing go as per technological procedure.
  • Upon the injection completion, the pressure in the tubing is decreased by means of a throttle valve at wellhead.

  • The relief valve is opened. The backwashing is performed.
  • The tool is relocated to the next target interval.
  • In case of excessive pressure in the well, before moving the tool up, the downhole ball valve is closed.
  • In order to perform the second and further stages of well treatment the upper section needs to be activated by launching the ball of appropriate diameter.
  • Once all the scheduled well works are complete the package is retrieved.
The wellhead setup of OrionT-Sjet packageis used for well head completion and string suspension.

Composition
  • Connection flange to install the setup on top of the wellhead.
  • Stripper is used for sealing the well annulus.
  • Pendulant bonnet serves for tubing string suspension. The bonnet has upper thread to mount plug-type flap valve which shuts off the fluid flow.

The quick-release connections of the stripper with connection flange and the pendulant bonnet with the stripper ensure that the package can be moved even at the existence of excessive pressure in the well.
Operation

1. The package is lowered into the well
When lowering:
• The relief valve is open for upward circulation but closed for downward circulation.
• The circulation goes both through the annulus and tubing.

2. Alignment
• The tool is lowered to the target interval.
• The tool is aligned in the target interval by geophysical data correlation.

3. By axial movements of the tubing the relief valve is switched to the closed position.

4. Sand jet perforation and hydraulic fracturing at the first interval
• The bottom-first section of the perforator is activated by launching the appropriate ball.

5. Preparation for relocation into the second interval or retrieval
• The relief valve is switched to the washover position – the fluid circulation through the tool is restored.
• The annulus over the gasket is washed over.

6. The scheduled operation
• The tool is moved to the next target interval or retrieved from the well. The relief valve is open.
• In case of excessive pressure in the well, before moving the tool up the downhole ball valve is closed.

The next section of the perforator is activated by launching the appropriate ball into the tubing
